21 days and counting...

 Yeah, it's on.

In three weeks I will be on the road to the land of Sun and Surf,
and Pop Culture Overload.

The Sunny San Diego Comic-Con!
As of last month the Con was booked solid, Sold out before the 1st table was set, the 1st panel booked, or the doors even cracked open.
I warned you.
But I'm going. I've even set up a blog so you can see all the fun and adventures My Filthy Assitant(tm) and I will have.
(Come on blackmail pictures of 'hunterandhunted' assulting David Tennant, 'nowammises, nowammies.')
Yeah it's going to be fun.
That and the seafood

Oh, and I'll also be giving out free copies of my comic.
more later.

P.S. a new chapter of PAN  will be up before I take off for the Con.

One more
You know with all that's been going on I forgot.
Michael once came to my shop in Philly and bought comics from me.
He seemed nice, odd but nice.

Can't I just give my money to Paul and Yoko and cut out the middle man ?

Arrh! Now I have to decide between an P3, Wii, or an X-Box.

May. 31st, 2009

Awwww, YEAH!

Well I've done it.
After about two years of messing around, trying this and that, I've done it.

I've got my BBQ rib recipe down.

It's finally what I've been working toward.
I really wanted something that was just a bit different from the usual sweet tomato based stuff everybody makes.

And I got it done before July 4th. Now all I have to do is see how they turn out when I get to make them in a smoker.
I can't wait.

Oh and i'm available for performances, just get the ribs and get me to the venue.
I'll bring the magic.

Endings and Beginings...

May 18 2009
Today marks the end of an era.

Today is Graduation day at Bryn Mawr College.

Four, maybe Five years ago, it’s a bit hard to pin point.

It’s funny how your life can change.
Change and you don’t even notice it.
Won’t even realize, till you can look back upon it.

They came one by one, didn’t really see it until one day they all came at the same time. The door to the store burst open, and there they were. A chaotic cacophony of  voices, talking, arguing. At first they were loud, annoying, but grudgingly I grew used to them. I listened to their questions, their opinions. Then bit by bit I grew fond of them, didn’t even notice, that I was waiting for them. I was looking forward to their visits.

They made my days better, made me smile, challenged me, supported me, they loved me and became my friends. They spilled over from the store and into my life, and I loved them, loved them all.

And one by one, they left and moved on till there was only one left.
Today she leaves also, she too moves on.
They taught me, I taught them, and today class is over.

But not until She teaches me one last lesson.
How much I will miss them all.

My life will be a bit quieter now.
Damn the silence.

My Girls.
My Angels.
My Dragonslayers.

My Mawrtyrs.

Look into the night sky,
You’ll see them too.

I Love You All.
I Miss You All.

lost in limbo

 Well, it's like this.

I'm still waiting for the battery for my phone to arrive.
But now, once again my net signal has gone bye-bye.

So for awhile I'll only be able to send out info, for about 2 hours at night.
So I'll catch you when I can.

this is so fun.

My phone seems to be dead.
The battery will not take a chrage.
So if you want to get in touch with me, you'll have to email me.
I won't have anytime to either get a new battery or whatever I need to do till the end of the week.

Friday fish fry with chips

So here's what I'm thinking.
Sort of...

Fish

Red Snapper or Porgies, hell maybe Croakers.

Split, cleaned, no heads, maybe fillets if they're big enough.

Light bread crumbs with spices, possibly an egg wash, or milk wash with a touch of hot sauce.

Some Idaho spuds, split into 8 wedges each, skin still on, and pan fried.

Then pan fry the fish seasoning the oil with some sweet onions and lemon slices.

And after that for the plate, some fresh Tomato slices to make it pretty.

just thinking.

PAN 29

HER

Sparks,
And fire…

She floated above them, suspended in a bubble.
Incased in heat,
In anger.

Red and glowing, like a tiny sun.

She shot straight up, into the sky,
Into the blue.

High in the clouds the moisture sizzled against her skin.

STUPID.
BIG.
GIRL.

She couldn’t see straight.
She couldn’t think straight.
All she could do was feel.

She couldn’t see them, under the waves.
Covered.
Covered by water.
Water.
So she couldn’t join them.
But she could feel Him.
So she could follow them.

So she did.
In her anger.
In her FURY.

She thought about diving down.
Diving in to join them, and letting her anger go.
Letting it free.
Free to boil the seas themselves.

It wouldn’t be hard.
She could be small,
Very small.

Small enough to dive in, and not be wet. So tiny.
So very tiny.
So the water would be fooled.
Wouldn’t know,
Wouldn’t be wet.

Tiny enough to move between.
To move in the waters shadow.
And in those shades, to touch the right one,
And make it burn.

Just a spark, just a tiny spark,
To a tiny shadow,
And then…

2 blue,
1 clear,
1 Red: Tink.

The red would touch the clear, and let it feel her red, fiery anger. It would catch and glow and then turn red like her, and then the blue would follow and then, spread to the other shadows around them.
From tiny acorns mighty redwoods grow.
The water would burn,
And Tink would smile.

No.
That wouldn’t do.
Then everything would be gone.
Gone forever,
And Tink would be…

Tinker would be alone,
Without Peter,
Without anyone.
Just like they wanted,
The ones above.

Tinker fall
Tinker hurt
Tinker silenced
Tinker all alone.

Tinker spun in her globe.
She was so frustrated.
What did she want?
What did Jessie want?
What did? What did…
The globe began to change color.
Red, Green. Red. Green. Red. It became a blur, and suddenly it went Jet Black.

It was still, and then it slowly melted away, like candle wax.
Leaving Tinker alone in mid air,
Black ribbons of wax sizzling from her wings.

Below, Jessie and Peter broke the surface of the sea, laughing, smiling, happy.

And Tinker flew down to join them.

After the dust has settled.

So when it's all said and done, after comparing the Con rates for flight/hotel and what I got online, the difference is about $300.00 give or take.

But let's look at the whole picture, I got the hotel I wanted, (Actually, I was trying to get this really swanky hotel. I've never stayed there before, but it looked pretty cool and it was CHEAP! But I lost out on it when the price skyrocketed overnight.) It's a suite, they've got a restaurant and bar, and serve a really cool breakfast buffet in the morning. Also it's within walking distance of the con and gaslamp quarter, I've stayed there before and I like it.

It took me once it was all said and done about an hour to book it all, flight and hotel, and I didn't have to stare at a comp screen for an hour and then sit around waiting for an email to tell me not only where I would be staying out of a pool of 3 hotels. But also IF I would be staying. Oh and then I would have to book my flight separately.

So, 300 for convenience, and peace of mind.

Oh, and that daily omelet bar.

I'm okay with that.

So 45 min. before the floodgates open and I am done.

I'm booked, I'm home free.

After some serious last minute shennagins with a couple of travel sites.

I arrive early in the afternoon, Wednesday the 22nd, and depart late morning Monday thee 27th.

But I'm in baby!

San Diego, here I come!

Monty we may have to talk, are you arriving Tuesday or Wednesday? Cause I lost Tuesday in the shuffle.

I warned you...

As of this morning the following press release from SDCC:

Recession?

There’s no disposable income left for people to spend money on things like comic book conventions?

Pshaw.

As has become fairly clear over the past two major shows (New York Comic Con and WonderCon), comic book conventions themselves seem to be shrugging off economic woes and the pundits claim that the recession will take a bite out of spending on...everything. That trend seems to be continuing with Comic Con International: San Diego, as the convention’s website shows the four day passes to be completely sold out. Continuing the practice the show began last year, no onsite memberships (daily tickets) will be sold.

The sell-out of the four day memberships in March blows last year’s four day sellout out of the water. As CCI’s David Glanzer told Newsarama last year, four day memberships for 2008’s show sold out two weeks prior to the show.

Thursday-Sunday individual day memberships are still available, but the cumulative price of the five memberships will cost $35 more than the four day passes.
